The Boonshoft Museum Hosts the Dayton Science Festival

Science Festival - Dayton, OHThe Boonshoft Museum of Discovery presents the annual Dayton Science Festival on Saturday, November 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Every year, on the last quarterly FREE-admission Super Science Saturday event, the Boonshoft Museum collaborates with the Dayton Science Festival for a community-wide celebration of STEM learning. Area families are invited to explore hands-on activities found throughout the Museum and to interact with partners and Museum professionals for a unique experience of science and fun.

The subjects of science, technology, engineering, and math are collectively known as STEM, combined together in an effort to encourage students to become more interested and proficient in the sciences. The STEM Expo (closes at 3:00 p.m.) in the Museum’s Main Exhibit Hall will feature Museum educators and representatives from over 20 community partners.

The Astronomy, Collections, Education, and Discovery Zoo/Live Animals Departments of the Museum will present a full day of science fun with a focus on educational talks, science theater presentations, experiments, and youth-oriented programming.

“The Dayton Science Festival is a celebration of STEM in the Miami Valley!” says Boonshoft Museum Vice President of Education, Dawn Kirchner. “It is a way to expose the next generation to the many ways they could pursue a STEM-based career while keeping their talents in Dayton.”

While at the Boonshoft, visitors will have an opportunity to explore the Explorers exhibit, which celebrates more than 125 years of the collection. The exhibition ventures to far-flung corners of the earth and charts a course through five geographic regions,   ranging from Japan and Egypt to the Philippines, Ecuador, and the American Plains.

On hand will be food vendors Mommaz Boyz offering popular culinary fare for sale to guests craving a bite to eat. For details of planned programs, visit www.boonshoftmuseum.org for a schedule of events. Admission to the Dayton Science Festival is Free!

Located at 2600 DeWeese Parkway, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is open to the public 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Sunday. (937) 275-7431. BoonshoftMuseum.org.
